Since 1991 the state of Minnesota and the NCAA have been recognizing oustanding women for their achievements athletically and academically. Women from the MIAC have had tremendous success on both the Minnesota and national stage.

The MIAC prides itself on being a leader in the classroom. An important conference objective is to develop the "student" in all student-athletes and prepare them for continued success outside the field of competition.

Several MIAC coaches began their careers on the sideline after successful stints as a student-athlete. Today, a total of 42 former MIAC student-athletes now lead by example as head coaches of women’s sports in the conference. MIAC
