A Century of Champions: Donson Cook-Gallardo

Donson Cook-Gallardo

Donson Cook-Gallardo was a 12-time MIAC champion and seven-time All-America honoree at Carleton. The 2017 MIAC Cross Country individual champion, Cook-Gallardo carried that momentum into the track season where he won the conference title in the mile and finished third at nationals before becoming the first MIAC men’s runner in 21 years to pull off victories in both the 800 and 1500-meter runs at the same MIAC Outdoor Championship meet.

A two-time national runner-up in the 800 and one-time national runner-up in the 1500, Cook-Gallardo cemented his legacy as one of the top distance competitors in MIAC history. He also got the job done in the classroom, earning Academic All-District honors from CoSIDA as a senior. Upon graduation, Cook-Gallardo was awarded a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship to continue his academic career in medical school.
