BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for men's and women's swimming and diving on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Gustavus claimed the Conference's weekly honors for Oct. 24 – Oct. 30, 2017.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated and selected by the Conference's sports information directors. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, volleyball, soccer and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming and diving) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week
Nolan Larson
Gustavus Adolphus College
West Des Moines, Iowa | Dowling Catholic

In his first collegiate swim meet, Nolan Larson won all three events he raced in – the 200 freestyle (1:46.67), 100 butterfly (52.96) and 200 freestyle relay (1:29.67). Larson's times in the 200 free and 100 fly top the MIAC performance list for the season.

MIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week
Sydney Hallmark
Gustavus Adolphus College

Cedarburg, Wis.

Gustavus junior Sydney Hallmark won two of three events at the Hamline dual meet last weekend, taking first in both the 1000 freestyle (11:21.83) and 200 individual medley (2:20.88). She also took second in the 100 butterfly (1:04.17). Her times in the 1000 free and 200 IM top the MIAC performance list this season.
