BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for men's and women's swimming and diving on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Carleton and Gustavus claimed the Conference's weekly honors for Nov. 7 – Nov. 13, 2017.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated and selected by the Conference's sports information directors. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming and diving) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week

Tanner Sonnek won all three of his individual races Saturday in a MIAC dual meet against St. Olaf. He took first in the 100 breaststroke (58.18), 200 breaststroke (2:08.87), and the 200 individual medley (2:00.37). Sonnek was also a member of the first-place 200 medley relay team (1:37.18). Both of his 100- and 200-breaststroke times from Saturday top the MIAC performance list and his 200 IM time is second-best.
MIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week

Carleton junior Caroline Mather won one individual event and two relays during Friday's dual with Hamline. Mather posted the MIAC's top time this season in the 50 freestyle (24.44) and anchored victories in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays, with the latter posting a season-best time for the Knights.
