BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for men's and women's tennis and indoor track and field on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Carleton, Saint Benedict, St. Olaf and St. Thomas claimed the Conference's weekly honors for Feb. 6-12, 2018.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated and selected by the Conference's sports information directors. Transitioning from the winter to spring season, team sports (basketball, hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (tennis, indoor track and field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week
Bangkok, Thailand | Bangkok Patana School
Leo Vithoontien went 2-0 at No. 1 singles last week and 1-1 in doubles play. A perfect 5-0 to start his collegiate singles career, Vithoontien won each of his matches in straight sets last week, including a 6-2, 6-2 victory over the No. 19-ranked singles player in the nation.
MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week
New Richmond, Wis.
Mattie Kidder got the season started with a 3-0 record in singles and doubles play last week, recording straight set wins over opponents from Northwestern (Iowa), Minnesota State and Saint Mary's.
MIAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
St. Paul, Minn. | Nova Classical Academy
Lucas Mueller ran both the mile and 3000-meter run at the SDSU Indoor Classic last week, recording the fastest 3000-meter time by a first-year in Division III this season at 8:23.07. The latter race time also ranks 20th in the country overall, while his mile time of 4:19.56 was the second-fastest by a DIII runner in the field.

Conor White finished first out of 31 competitors in the long jump with a season-best leap of 23-4 ¾ - 10th-best in Division III – at the UST Showcase last Friday. White also took fourth in the high jump and sixth in the 60-meter dash at the meet.
MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
St. Olaf College
St. Paul, Minn. | Mahtomedi
Jordan Lutz placed second overall and first among Division III competitors in the 800 with a time of 2:16.25 at the UST Showcase last week, finishing as a runner-up to Division I Minnesota's Paige Peschel by 0.12 seconds. Lutz was also part of the 4x400 relay team that took second at the meet.

Suntina Spehar won the high jump with a personal-best mark of 1.61 meters – the sixth-best leap in CSB history. Her 60-meter dash time of 8.41 at the CSB home meet also represents a personal record.
