BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for softball on Monday. Student-athletes from Saint Benedict and St. Catherine claimed the Conference's weekly honors for Feb. 19-25, 2018.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated and selected by the Conference's sports information directors. Throughout the spring season, team sports (softball, baseball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (tennis, outdoor track and field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Softball Player of the Week
St. Catherine University
Anna Hinderaker was a constant nightmare for opposing pitchers over the weekend, as the junior outfielder had multiple hits in three of the Wildcats' four games from the leadoff position. Hinderaker tallied nine hits in 15 at-bats for a batting average of .600 with eight runs scored as St. Catherine went 2-2 to open the season.
MIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
College of Saint Benedict
Kiela DeVlaeminck picked up two wins over the weekend to help Saint Benedict finish 3-1 in Rochester. She allowed three runs on five hits in six innings of work in a win against Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday before coming on in relief duty against Wisconsin-Eau Claire and limiting the Blugolds to one run on three hits in four innings as CSB recovered from a three-run deficit to win, 9-5. DeVlaeminck finished the weekend with eight strikeouts and a 2.80 earned run average.
