BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for cross country on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Carleton and Saint Benedict claimed the Conference's weekly honors for October 9-15, 2018.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the fall season, team sports (football, soccer and volleyball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (cross country and golf) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week
St. Paul, Minn. | Nova Classical Academy
Lucas Mueller finished fourth out of 344 racers at the loaded Kollege Town Pre-National Meet hosted by Wis.-Oshkosh on Saturday. The 50-team field included 17 nationally-ranked squads. Mueller was the top underclassman at the race, clocking a time of 25:15.2, helping the No. 20-ranked Knights finish 11th in the team standings.

Mandan, N.D. | Saint Mary's Central
Morgan Pierce was the top MIAC finisher at the Kollege Town Pre-National Meet hosted by Wis.-Oshkosh on Saturday, in a field that featured 20 nationally-ranked teams. Pierce finished 20th out of more than 350 runners with a time of 22:33 on the 6K course. This marks the fifth top-20 finish of the season for the CSB senior.
