BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) has hired Lisa Mushett as its new Coordinator of Tennis Officials, the Conference announced on Tuesday.

Mushett is the MIAC's first-ever Coordinator of Officials for tennis and will be tasked with establishing an officiating staff, training officials, assigning matches, and communicating regularly with both coaches and officials. Her duties will begin effective immediately.

"I am very excited to join the MIAC in this newly-created position," Mushett said. "I look forward to further developing the skills of our current officials, as well as recruiting new officials to the Conference to ensure we are fielding the highest-level of collegiate tennis officials at any level in the country."

A certified Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) referee, chair, line, and roving official, Mushett brings a wealth of experience to the position. In addition to her time as a MIAC tennis official, she has also worked for the Big Ten, Big XII, and Missouri Valley Conferences. Earlier in 2018, Mushett was one of six officials selected to work the Big Ten Men's Tennis Conference Championships, as well as the MIAC Men's Tennis Championships and NCAA Division III Men's Championships. She has also attended the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Chair Academy, where she mentored many of the nation's top tennis officials, and currently serves as a USTA National Trainer, traveling across the United States to conduct officiating clinics for both new and veteran officials.

"The experience alone that Lisa brings to this position is invaluable," MIAC Commissioner Dan McKane said. "She also has great familiarity with our Conference and the Minnesota tennis officiating community as a whole. She is going to be an outstanding resource for our officials and coaches and we are very excited to be working with her moving forward."

In her new role, Mushett will be actively involved in all aspects of the assignment, development, and improvement of men's and women's tennis officiating, including the recruitment and retention of officials, building a quality officiating staff, addressing officiating-related concerns and issues with MIAC staff, coaches, and administrators, and representing the MIAC at NCAA supervisor/coordinator meetings.

In addition to her experience as a tennis official, Mushett has also worked in the Sports Information offices at Notre Dame, Minnesota, and Illinois, and served as the longtime Director of Marketing and Communications of the USTA Northern Section. She and her husband, Andrew, have two daughters, Reagan and Ryann.
