BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for basketball and hockey on Monday. Student-athletes from Gustavus, Macalester, Saint Mary's, and St. Thomas claimed the Conference's weekly honors for November 19-25, 2018.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming and diving) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

Wyatt Ferm tallied 29 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and two steals to lead Macalester past Northwestern, 75-71, on Tuesday. He was 13-of-17 from the field, including 8-of-9 for 18 points in the second half, to help the Scots erase a 12-point second-half deficit. The performance was Ferm's third straight double-double, as Macalester ended a 10-game losing streak to Northwestern.

Rachel Kedl put together back-to-back double-doubles to lead Saint Mary's to a pair of wins last week. The sophomore forward opened with an 11-point, 10-rebound effort in the Cardinals' win over St. Scholastica, before adding career-highs of 16 points and 12 rebounds in SMU's victory over previously-unbeaten Bethany Lutheran four days later. Kedl - who did not have a double-double all of last year - has now posted three in the Cardinals' first four games.

Cam Burggrabe recorded his first collegiate shutout Saturday, as he stopped all 22 shots in the Tommies' 3-0 win over Nichols (Mass.). The first-year goaltender improved to 2-0 on the season as he guided UST to its first shutout win of the year.

Kristina Press helped guide the Gusties to victory in their only contest over Thanksgiving weekend, icing the game with two goals in a 4-1 Gustavus win against St. Scholastica. The first-year forward now has three goals and an assist in seven collegiate games this season.
