BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for tennis on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's honors for March 5-11, 2019.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Transitioning into the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (tennis, golf, outdoor track and field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week
St. Olaf College
Minneapolis, Minn. | Robbinsdale Cooper
Corey Loken recorded the first No. 1 singles victory of his career in St. Olaf's match against St. Thomas last week. Loken won his singles match 7-5, 6-2 and posted an 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles with teammate Gus Fedje-Johnston.
MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Mackenzie Novak helped the Royals pick up their fifth shutout win of the season in defeating Wis.-La Crosse last week. Novak stayed perfect in singles play with a 6-0, 6-3 decision at No. 3 singles. She has now won 10 consecutive sets and has had at least one shutout set in each of her last four singles matches. At the No. 2 doubles spot, Novak and teammate Jill Weinzettel picked up their fourth straight win with an 8-3 decision.
