BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for baseball and softball on Monday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Hamline, St. Olaf, and St. Thomas claimed the Conference's honors for March 18-24, 2019.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (tennis, golf, outdoor track and field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Baseball Player of the Week
Jr. | Outfielder
Devin Rodgers pushed his current hitting streak to nine games with a big week for the Pipers in Tucson, Ariz. Rodgers batted .524 with 11 hits and nine RBI in 21 at-bats over a five-game stretch for Hamline, raising his batting average by 125 points in the process. Rodgers' 17 hits and 13 runs batted in both rank in the top-10 among all MIAC batters this season.

Henry DeCaster fanned nine and allowed one walk with five hits over eight shutout innings in Thursday's 6-0 St. Thomas win over No. 15-ranked UW-Whitewater. The senior southpaw did not allow a runner past second base and combined with reliever Andrew Tri to record just the second shutout of the Warhawks by a Division III team in the last three seasons. DeCaster improved to 2-0 on the season and 12-8 in his St. Thomas career, posting a 2.46 ERA with 179 strikeouts and 40 walks as a Tommie.
MIAC Softball Player of the Week

Jamie Axelberg drove in 13 runs while batting .360 and slugging .800 as Bethel increased its winning streak to 10 games last week. The sophomore infielder finished the week exceptionally strong, belting home runs in each of her final three games, including a two-run homer to take the lead against St. Norbert last Thursday. Axelberg and the Royals are off to a program-best 13-1 start this season.
MIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
St. Olaf College

Sammamish, Wash. | Eastlake
Julie Graf went 3-1 with a 0.64 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 22.0 innings of work in four appearances for St. Olaf last week. The junior allowed just one hit and one unearned run while striking out 13 in a 3-1 win over Bowdoin on Friday before holding No. 9 UW-Whitewater to one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts in a 2-1 victory the next day. With 37 strikeouts over the four appearances, Graf moved up a spot to third in MIAC history with 637 Ks for her career.
