BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for tennis on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel claimed the Conference's honors for March 19-25, 2019.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (tennis, golf, outdoor track and field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week
New Hope, Minn. | Armstrong
Hunter Fernelius became Bethel's all-time wins leader last week, bringing his career total to 127 thanks to a pair of victories in both singles and doubles play. Fernelius won a combined four in a row to end the Royals' spring break trip, including an upset victory over Hamilton's UTR-ranked Max Zimmerman at No. 1 singles.
MIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Grace Riermann went 4-1 on Bethel's spring break trip with her only loss to nationally-ranked Claire Hallock from Hope College in a 4-6, 7-5, (6-10) nailbiter. The first-year's final win over Sofia Aulicino at No. 1 singles helped Bethel defeat Hamilton, a team fresh off of defeating nationally-ranked Colby. In doubles play, Grace and her sister, Maggie, went 5-0, helping the Royals improve to 12-2 on the year.
