BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for baseball and softball on Monday. Student-athletes from Augsburg, Carleton, Macalester, and Saint Mary's claimed the Conference's honors for March 25-31, 2019.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (tennis, golf, outdoor track and field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

Soren Roe batted .444 (4-for-9) with three home runs, a double, and four RBI in three games last week. He belted two home runs in the MIAC opener at Gustavus on Sunday, one day after knocking one over the fence in the Scots' 10-7 victory at Northwestern on Saturday. The first-year outfielder has reached base safely in all eight of his starts this season.

James Green was true to form once again on Sunday, tossing a seven-inning complete-game four-hitter in a 2-1 victory over nationally-ranked Saint John's. The sophomore right-hander did not allow an extra-base hit, a walk, nor more than one hit in a single inning. Following his three-strikeout performance on Sunday, Green now has 32 Ks on the year, while holding opposing batters to a collective .148 average against him this season.
MIAC Softball Player of the Week

Maris Daleo hit safely in all seven of the Knights' games last week to extend her hit streak to 14. Daleo scored 10 runs from her leadoff spot in helping Carleton to a 5-2 week, including a victory over No. 17 UW-Whitewater, a game in which she went 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. The sophomore infielder walked a total of four times last week without a strikeout and boasted a .522 batting average and .571 on-base percentage to go along with her .609 slugging percentage. Daleo has hit safely in 18 of 19 games this year and leads all MIAC players with 16 stolen bases on the season.
MIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

Sam Anderson had a brilliant week in the pitching circle, going 3-0 in four appearances - three of which were complete games - with two shutout wins and 34 strikeouts against just five walks and only two earned runs. Anderson struck out 12 batters in a 5-0 win against St. Scholastica last Tuesday to become the ninth pitcher in MIAC history to reach the 500-strikeout plateau. She went on to set a new career-high with 16 strikeouts in a 3-1 win over Concordia on Saturday to open conference play. Anderson faced just 25 batters in the game, throwing 75 strikes in 97 pitches. She picked up her 13th career shutout on Sunday with a 1-0 triumph over Carleton. Anderson has thrown a program-record 525 strikeouts in her Auggie career.
