Jared Sieling, Gustavus

Gustavus Adolphus College senior linebacker Jared Sieling (Watertown, Minn.) completed his standout career with 15 tackles, including four tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception return for a touchdown as Gustavus defeated Carleton 37-14 on Saturday. Sieling's timely blitzes put pressure on Carleton's quarterback for much of the day and then in the third quarter with Gustavus holding on to a slim 10-7 lead, Sieling intercepted a pass and returned it 37 yards for a touchdown sparking a 30-point third quarter for the Gusties. Sieling's 15 stops pushed his season total to 105 making him only the second player in the program's history to post two 100 tackle seasons in his career. Gustavus finished the season with a mark of 5-5 overall.
Brandon Carr, Bethel

Bethel University senior safety Brandon Carr (Fergus Falls, Minn./Fergus Falls) had eight tackles, (six solo, and two assists) as well as an interception and three pass break-ups in Bethel's 44-35 win over Augsburg on Friday night at the Metrodome. Carr's interception came at a critical time in the game, as Bethel was clinging to a two-point lead with Augsburg driving deep into Bethel territory with less than three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Carr's interception at the Royal four-yard line allowed the Bethel offense to begin a five-play, 96-yard drive that put them up 44-35 to stay. His pass break-ups were essential in stopping a highly pass-oriented Auggie offense from accumulating more yardage.
Drew Ziller, Carleton

Carleton College junior strong safety Drew Ziller (Byron, Minn./Rochester Lourdes) collected a career-high 21 stops, including 16 solo tackles. For the second consecutive week, he led all MIAC players in both statistics. He also forced a fumble, recovered another, broke up two passes and blocked a point-after attempt. Ziller's 21 tackles were one shy of the school record set by Scott Klein at Saint John's on Oct. 21, 1995.
Brandon Carr, Bethel

Bethel University senior safety Brandon Carr (Fergus Falls, Minn./Fergus Falls) had two interceptions and a big pass break-up that helped Bethel limit a high-scoring St. Olaf offense to just 14 points. Carr also had four solo tackles one of them for a loss - and two tackle assists. He intercepted Ole quarterback Matt Penz on their first play from scrimmage after Bethel had gone ahead 7-0. Carr intercepted Penz again, this time in the end zone, in the fourth quarter with St. Olaf driving inside Bethel territory. His pass break-up also helped prevent another potential Ole touchdown when he swatted a ball away deep in Bethel territory during the third quarter.
Nick Gunderson, Saint John's

Saint John's University junior defensive tackle Nick Gunderson (Woodbury, Minn.) made five tackles (3 solo), including 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and one fumble recovery in the Johnnies' 40-0 win at Gustavus last weekend. Gunderson anchored an SJU defense that held Gustavus, who entered the contest second in the MIAC averaging 440.8 yards per game, to 133 yards of offense and 54 plays in the game. Gunderson is currently third on the team in tackles with 38 (18 solo), is tied for the team lead with 9.0 tackles for loss and second with 5.5 sacks so far this season. The last time SJU shutout Gustavus in St. Peter occurred on Oct. 7, 1932 (7-0). The Johnnies have shutout the Gusties five times since, all in Collegeville.
Garrett Adamson, Augsburg

Augsburg College junior free safety Garrett Adamson (White Bear Lake, Minn./Hill-Murray) led the Auggies with 17 tackles (nine solo), including 0.5 tackles for loss, and had the game-clinching interception at the Augsburg 1-yard line with 50 seconds left in the fourth quarter, as Augsburg claimed a 14-13 nonconference win at No. 10/11 Wartburg (Iowa) on Saturday. The interception was Adamson's third of the season. Adamson now is tied for the team's lead in tackles with 47 (29 solo).
Jerad Phelps, Carleton

Carleton College senior outside linebacker Jerad Phelps (Northfield, Minn.) had 13 tackles (eight solo) as the Carleton College Knights nearly knocked off #3/4 Saint John's on Saturday, eventually falling 10-7. Phelps also came up with two turnovers to halt Saint John's drives in Carleton territory. Just before halftime he intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards to midfield. Then in the third quarter, his fumble recovery in the end zone kept the Johnnies off the scoreboard once again.
Nick Gunderson, Saint John's

Saint John's University junior defensive tackle Nick Gunderson (Woodbury, Minn.) led the Johnnies with 8 tackles (5 solo), including one tackle for loss, one sack and a forced fumble in the Johnnies' 52-21 win over Concordia-Moorhead last Saturday in Collegeville. Concordia gained a total of nine yards in the eight plays that Gunderson was a part of statistically (a total of five yards on the five solo stops). Gunderson currently leads the Johnnies with 27 tackles (13 solo) and has collected 4.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks on the young season.
Hamada Omar, Gustavus

Gustavus Adolphus College sophomore free safety Hamada Omar (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) compiled nine tackles (four solo stops), recorded one pass breakup, forced a fumble, and intercepted a pass to help the Gusties claim a 30-14 win at St. Thomas on Saturday. Midway through the third quarter, Omar intercepted a David Sauer pass at the St. Thomas 49-yard line that Gustavus converted into a touchdown five plays later giving the Gusties a 21-0 lead. Early in the fourth quarter with St. Thomas driving deep in Gustavus territory, Omar hit Tommie wide receiver Sam Moen forcing a fumble at the Gustie 13-yard line that Gustavus linebacker Jared Sieling recovered. Omar led a Gustavus defense that forced six St. Thomas turnovers and limited the Tommies to 45 yards rushing in the game. The Gusties are now 2-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the MIAC.
Tim Cornish, Bethel

Bethel University sophomore cornerback Tim Cornish (Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) dashed any hopes of a Simpson College comeback by intercepting passes on two consecutive drives late in the third quarter. The first interception put the icing on the cake in Bethel's 35-0 win as he returned it 51 yards for a touchdown.
Nick Rydberg, St. Olaf

St. Olaf College senior linebacker Nick Rydberg played a part in 14 tackles (eight solo, six assisted - 11.0) in the Oles' 26-19 win over Luther. Included in those 14 tackles were a sack and 4.5 tackles for a loss.
