BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Augsburg junior Booker Coplin and Saint John's senior David Stokman each added two more postseason honors on Wednesday.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced both Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) standouts as First Team selections to the All-West District Team with Coplin being named West District Player of the Year. The College Sports Information Directors of America then honored both players with Google Cloud Academic All-America status. Stokman was a First Team honoree with Coplin earning a Second Team nod.
Coplin (Jr. | Shakopee, Minn.) was named the MIAC Player of the Year in February after a breakout junior campaign that saw him reach the 20-point plateau in 24 of the team's 28 games, eclipsing 30 points 11 times while collecting 12 double-doubles along the way. A three-time D3hoops.com Team of the Week honoree as a junior, Coplin set single-season program records for points (784) and points per game (28.0). In addition to the NABC district awards and Academic All-America honors, Coplin was also named to D3hoops.com's All-West Region for the first time in his career earlier this month. He is a biopsychology major with a 3.73 GPA at Augsburg.
Stokman (Sr. | Maple Lake, Minn.) finished his career at Saint John's as the program's all-time leader in three-pointers with 266 over his four years in Collegeville. A two-time First Team All-MIAC and D3hoops.com All-West Region selection, Stokman recorded eight 20-plus-point performances as a senior, finishing his career with 25 in total. Twice named the recipient of the MIAC's Elite 22 award for men's basketball, Stokman is an economics and philosophy double-major with a 4.0 GPA and a three-time Google Cloud Academic All-American, having earned Third Team honors in 2017 and First Team honors last year.
