St. Thomas first in 2006-07 MIAC Preseason Coach's Poll

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced today its 2006-07 Winter Preseason Coach's Polls for men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's hockey. The preseason favorites include St. Thomas - Men's Basketball, Concordia - Women's Basketball, St. Thomas - Men's Hockey, and Gustavus - Women's Hockey.

Coaches voted for every team in the conference except their own team. Points were assigned for each vote (1 for first, 2 for second, etc.). Teams are ranked in order of lowest point total to highest with first place votes shown in parentheses.

MIAC Men's Hockey
St. Thomas claimed the top spot in this season's poll as the 2005-06 conference champs received five first-place votes. The Tommies edged out Bethel, Saint John's and St. Olaf to claim the number one spot. Men's hockey non-conference action begins Friday, November 3 with MIAC conference games beginning Friday, November 17.
