BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) men's hockey teams wrapped up their last full weekend of league play for the calendar year on Saturday. While Hamline travels to Concordia for a two-game series against the Cobbers this coming weekend, the rest of the MIAC will finish off 2018 with non-conference action.

NATIONAL NOTABLES
Augsburg goalie Nick Schmit (Fargo, N.D. | North) has a save percentage of 0.958 in 2018, the second-best clip in all of collegiate hockey. He also has a goals-against average of 1.14, third-best in NCAA Division III.

Augsburg forward Alex Rodriguez (Miami, Fla. | Shattuck-St. Mary's) and Concordia forward Mario Bianchi (Bloomington, Minn. | Holy Angels) are ranked Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, in Division III in goals per game this season. Rodriguez is averaging 1.11 goals per game in 2018, while Bianchi is right behind with an average of 1.10.

Concordia forward Tyler Bossert (Moorhead, Minn. | Fargo Shanley) is averaging 1.50 assists per game this season, tied for the second-highest average in D-III.

AROUND THE MIAC
Augsburg forward Chandler Madry (Bakersfield, Calif. | Fairbanks B.E.S.T) claimed his first career multi-goal game in an Augsburg uniform on Friday, scoring twice to lead the Auggies to a 5-2 win at the St. Thomas.

Freshman forward Josiah Roen (Hugo, Minn. | Concordia Academy) scored the game-winning goal in Bethel's first victory of the season, a 5-4 win over Gustavus last Friday. The win also marks the first under first-year head coach Chris McKelvie and snapped the Royals' 14-game winless streak.

Concordia sophomore forward Tyler Bossert (Moorhead, Minn. | Fargo Shanley) had a pair of multi-point games as Concordia swept St. Olaf over the weekend for the Cobbers' first MIAC sweep since the 2016-17 season. Bossert had an assist on both game-winning goals in the series. He finished with a goal and an assist in Friday's win and then added a goal and two assists on Saturday.

Gustavus held Bethel scoreless in seven power-play opportunities on Saturday to defeat the Royals, 3-1. Goalie Chris Amsden (St. Peter, Minn.) earned the win in goal with 18 saves. He has 158 saves on the season, with 112 coming against Conference opponents.

Hamline sophomore forward Taylor Trapp (West Salem, Wis.) scored the Pipers' lone goal in a 3-1 loss to St. Scholastica last week. Trapp led HU's 39-shot attack with six in the game.

Saint John's forward Brady Heppner (Crookston, Minn.) has scored in each of the last three games, including a pair of goals in the team's 4-3 loss to Saint Mary's on Saturday. The Johnnies battled back from a 3-0 deficit before falling to the Cardinals in overtime. Heppner had the game-tying goal in the third period.

The Stang brothers came up big for Saint Mary's over the weekend, as Jack Stang (Mendota Heights, Minn.) picked up a goal and an assist, while Tommy Stang (Mendota Heights, Minn.) notched a pair of assists and the lone shootout goal to earn an extra conference point in the team's 3-3 tie with Saint John's on Friday.

Senior goalie Eric Hancock (North Royalton, Ohio) made 40 saves, including 16 in the third period, in his first action of the season against Concordia on Saturday. Hancock's last 40-plus save performance came on Jan. 18, 2018 against Wis.-Eau Claire.

St. Thomas freshman Luke Radetic (Chesterfield, Mo. | Chaminade Prep) has scored a goal in five consecutive games. He capitalized on a power-play in the second period of UST's 2-2 tie with Augsburg on Saturday. The Tommies outscored the Auggies, 2-0, in a three-round shootout to earn an extra point in the MIAC standings.
