Men's Soccer Player of the Week

Ross Mattson, Carleton

Carleton College senior goalkeeper Ross Mattson (St. Paul, Minn./Minnehaha Academy) posted a pair of big

victories in net for the Knights, including a shutout of rival St. Olaf, as the Knights ended the season on a sevenmatch

winning streak to finish tied for fourth in the MIAC standings. On Tuesday at Macalester, Mattson’s penalty-

kick save in the 72nd minute with Carleton leading, 3-1, kept the momentum on the Knights’ side and led

to an eventual 4-1 victory. In Saturday’s 1-0 win over the Oles, Mattson tallied three saves as the Knights notched

their 11th victory of the season, matching the school record for wins. It was the 11th shutout of his career. Mattson

was the top choice in goal for Carleton head coach Bob Carlson in each of Mattson’s four years at Carleton,

Senior Goalkeeper and he amassed a record of 26-22-3.
