Chris Fisette, Saint Mary's

Saint Mary’s University junior Chris Fisette (Elmhurst, Ill.) was involved in establishing his third school record in two weeks at the Carleton Pre-MIAC meet on Friday. Fisette set a new school record and qualified provisionally for nationals with a Triple Jump victory of 14.08m (46’ 2 1/2"). He also won the Long Jump with a leap of 6.55 m (21' 6"0. Finally, he anchored the 4x200m Relay to a new school record with a time of 1:31.95. Other members were Josiah Ryks, Eddie Moore and John Kelly. One week earlier, Fisette had established a school record in the 200m running 22.95.

John Schantzen, St. Olaf

St. Olaf College sophomore John Schantzen (Stillwater, Minn.) won the shot put at The Qualifier at St. Olaf on Saturday with a personal best, NCAA Provisional Mark of 16.33 (53'-7"). The mark ranks him first in the MIAC and sixth in Division III. The mark also ranks second on St. Olaf's All-Time Shot Put list.

Derek Peterson, Hamline

Hamline University sophomore Derek Peterson (Forest Lake, Minn.) hit an NCAA provisional mark in the shot put at the Snowshoe Open at the University of Minnesota on Friday. Peterson’s toss of 51' 5" currently ranks 15th in the NCAA. He joins freshman teammate Derall King on the NCAA list. Peterson had personal best throws on five of his six attempts.

Derall King, Hamline

Week of: 2008-02-11

Hamline University first-year Derall King (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) improved his provisional shot put mark Saturday at the Carleton Meet of Hearts to 51' 11" for the win. The mark currently ranks him 10th in the NCAA. King is the only first-year on the national ranking list in the throwing events.

John Schantzen, St. Olaf

Week of: 2008-02-04

St. Olaf College sophomore John Schantzen (Stillwater, Minn.) won the Minnesota State-Mankato Open with a MIAC-leading throw of 15.87 meters (52' 0 3/4") in the shot put. This throw surpassed the NCAA Provisional qualifying standard and moved John up to #7 on the National list. Only St. Olaf's Peter Cathcart '06 had a farther throw in the past five indoor campaigns.

John Schantzen, St. Olaf

St. Olaf College sophomore John Schantzen (Stillwater, Minn.) narrowly missed an NCAA qualifying mark with a throw of 15.40 meters (50’ 6 1/4") in the shot put as he won the event at the Carleton Men’s Open on Friday night. This is the second farthest throw in the MIAC this season.

Dusten Olejnicak, Concordia

Week of: 2008-01-28

Concordia College senior Dusten Olejnicak (Brainerd, Minn.) leaped to a lifetime best of 6.75 meters (22’ 0 3/4") in the Long Jump at the Cobber Duals this weekend. This was the second consecutive week setting a personal record in the event. This is the best jump in the MIAC this season in the Long Jump.

Derall King, Hamline

Week of: 2008-01-21

Hamline University first-year Derall King (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) hit an NCAA qualifying throw of 15.59 meters (51'4") in the shot put on his very first collegiate throw to win the St. Olaf Triangular. This currently ranks him fifth on the NCAA Division III performance list at this early juncture in the season.

Ryan Doyle, St. Olaf

Week of: 2008-01-21

St. Olaf College junior Ryan Doyle (Duluth, Minn.) won the High Jump at the Triangular at St. Olaf in 1.91 meters (6' 3 1/4") a personal best. He also placed second in the 55m Hurdles, fourth in the Long Jump, and ran a leg on St. Olaf's winning 4x400m relay team, helping guide St. Olaf to a team victory.

Derek Marks, St. Thomas

University of Saint Thomas senior Derek Marks (Lakeville, Minn.) had an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 54-8 3/4 in the weight throw good for fourth place in Saturday's season-opening competition at the University of Minnesota Northwest Open.
