BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its annual award recipients for Men's Indoor Track and Field on Thursday, capping off an outstanding season and championship meet last weekend.

The names on the list of recipients for the conference's major individual awards look very familiar, as Carleton sophomore Lucas Mueller, Hamline senior Eric Dols, and Gustavus sophomore Taylor Rooney all repeated as award winners for the second year in a row. St. Thomas coach Steve Mathre also picked up his fourth MIAC Coach of the Year honor in the last 12 seasons.

Mueller (So. | St. Paul, Minn. | Nova Classical Academy) earned Outstanding Track Athlete honors for the second consecutive season after winning the mile run in 4:12.82, 3,000-meter run in 8:26.88, and placing third in the 1,000-meter with a personal-best time of 2:29.01. Mueller also anchored the Knights' first-place distance medley relay team that finished in 10:25.53 - the second year in a row that Mueller has been part of a victorious DMR squad at the MIAC meet.

Dols (Sr. | Prior Lake, Minn.) repeated as Outstanding Field Athlete after winning the shot put and taking second in the weight throw at the 2019 Indoor Championships. The senior thrower hurled the shot 16.91 meters in finals to claim his third consecutive All-Conference honor and his first-ever MIAC title in the event. He also placed second in the weight throw - a second straight top-two finish in the event - with a heave of 19.18 meters.

Rooney (So. | Andover, Minn.) was once again honored with the Oustanding Performance of the Meet award after breaking his own meet record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.14 in prelims. It was the third consecutive race that Rooney had topped the meet previous mark, having beaten the old record in prelims last year, then beating that time in finals. Rooney clocked in at 8.19 in finals last Friday to win the event for a second consecutive season. He also repeated as champion in the high jump with a leap of 1.98 meters in finals.

Mathre was recognized as Coach of the Year, a feat he also achieved in 2008, 2009, and 2012. The longtime St. Thomas coach guided the Tommies to extend their streak of consecutive MIAC indoor championships to 35 last Saturday. Mathre's team won by a margin of 79.5 points, totaling 185 points with 16 All-Conference honorees and six individual MIAC champions.

In addition to the top individual award-winners, the MIAC recognized the 2019 Men's Indoor Track and Field All-MIAC Sportsmanship team. Also listed below are the 2019 MIAC Men's Indoor Track and Field All-Conference individuals and relay teams. The top three finishers in each individual event and each first-place relay team received All-MIAC honors. Individuals that finished 4-6 and relay teams that finished 2-6 received All-Conference Honorable Mention honors and can be found in the final results.
