BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) is set to begin its 2018 cross country season with men's and women's teams back in action this weekend.
MIAC teams will compete in more than 30 meets combined over the next two months in preparation for the 2018 MIAC Cross Country Championships at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. The Championships are set for Saturday, October 27 and will be co-hosted by St. Olaf College and the University of St. Thomas. Carleton College won both the men's and women's MIAC Championships in 2017, marking the first time since 1992 that one school swept both races.
Leading up to the 2018 Championships, the MIAC will honor outstanding individual performances each Tuesday with the announcement of the men's and women's cross country Athletes of the Week. Weekly selections will begin on Tuesday, September 4.
The MIAC is also in the process of overhauling its sport record books to provide a better historical perspective of the Conference and the accomplishments of its student-athletes over the last century. The MIAC Cross Country record books contain annual Conference championship information, all-time award winners, NCAA Championship history, and more. The information included in the 2018 Record Books are based on available data and research for additional historical documents is ongoing.
