This will be the fourth postseason meeting between the two teams in the last five years. Augsburg and St. Thomas traded semifinal victories in 2014 and 2015 before meeting in the 2016 MIAC Playoff Championship, which saw the Auggies come away with a 1-0 win. St. Thomas defeated Augsburg, 5-0, in the final week of the 2018 regular season.

After a scoreless first half, top-seeded St. Thomas came alive in the second, scoring a pair of goals to defeat No. 4 St. Catherine, 2-0, and advance to the program's third Playoff Championship game in the last four seasons. Alex Balfour logged her first goal of the season unassisted in the 60th minute, just getting the ball past SCU goalkeeper Tayler Koop to record what would become the game-winner. Ellie Eskierka took a pass from Mallory DeBoom 23 minutes later to score her second goal of the year and secure the Tommie victory. Koop stopped nine of the 11 shots directed at her in the game. St. Thomas will be looking for the program's first-ever MIAC playoff title on Saturday.

For fans of high-scoring soccer action, Augsburg and Bethel provided a Halloween treat on Wednesday afternoon, with the Auggies coming out on top, 4-2. Junior forward Ashley St. Aubin assisted on the first goal of the game and scored the last one to become Augsburg's new single-season record holder with 20 goals in 2018. Augsburg scored the first three goals of the contest, two of which came off the foot of Gabriela Encarnacion. Bethel answered back with two unassisted goals in the second half from Rachel Waterman and Britney Monteon before St. Aubin put the game out of reach with her score in the 60th minute. Augsburg will now advance to the fourth playoff championship game in program history in search of its third title in the last five seasons. The Auggies won championships in 2014 and 2016 after being the playoff runner-up in 2012.
