Saint Mary's diver Sarah Jansen (Manitowoc, Wis./Lincoln) enjoyed one final chance to compete prior to the 2013 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships over the weekend. The Cardinal junior was great on both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards, winning the 1-meter title and finishing third on the 3-meter board at the Northfield Diving Invitational. For her performance, Jansen was named the MIAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete-of-the-Week.
Jansen captured the 1-meter title with a score of 178.1 and she used a score of 161.05 to finish third on the 3-meter board at the diving meet held Saturday at Carleton's home pool. Jansen edged St. Olaf's Emma Fulton by nearly five points to win her 1-meter title, and finished behind Fulton and Carleton's Lydia Henderson on the 3-meter board. Jansen's score of 219.90 ranks sixth in the MIAC this season on the 1-meter board (11 dives) and she's also sixth on the 3-meter board (11 dives) with a score of 297.73.
The Cardinals hope Jansen can continue her great performances on the diving boards this weekend at the 2013 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships. The conference meet, which will be held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center will feature six sessions - two each on Thursday, Friday and Saturday - with preliminary heats in the morning and championship heats at each evening session. All six sessions will be broadcast live online on the MIAC web site along with results, recaps and photos.
