St. Catherine sophomore Jenna Nagy (Hutchinson, Minn.) really appears to be peaking at the right time. The Wildcats' diving star had another tremendous weekend as she swept all four diving titles at a pair of dual meets, and she posted an NCAA qualifying mark for the second-straight week to ensure her spot at the regional diving zone meet on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. For her performance, the MIAC sports information directors honored Nagy Tuesday with her second-straight MIAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete-of-the-Week award.
Nagy set new season-best scores (six dives) while winning titles on both boards in Friday's 148-84 home dual win over Macalester. Nagy won the 1-meter with a score of 262.75 and the 3-meter with 228.95 points. The following day, she again swept the diving titles (11 dives) with scores of 392.80 on the 1-meter board and 429.00 on the 3-meter board in a 162-136 loss to UM-Morries. The 3-meter score met the NCAA regional diving zone qualifying score and is the top mark in the MIAC this season. Nagy also ranks first in the MIAC with her six-dive 1-meter score, and second for 11 dives at 1 meter, and third for six dives at 3 meters. Nagy is the reigning MIAC Diver-of-the-Year and conference champion on the 1- meter board.
The Wildcats will continue their home stand this weekend when
they host the St. Kate's Invite at the Butler Center Saturday at
noon. The diving portion of the meet will be held across town at
Hamline, beginning at 12:30 p.m. The team's final regular-season
tune-up for the MIAC Championships will take place the following
weekend, as Nagy and company will compete at the Minnesota
Challenge in Minneapolis on Feb. 7.
