St. Thomas wins MIAC Women's Indoor Track & Field championship

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The University of St. Thomas has swept the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships, as the UST women claimed victory at the annual conference meet on Saturday.

St. Thomas scored 197 points to lead the women's team standings and wrap up the program's 20th straight indoor conference title. Hamline placed second with 113.5 points, followed by Carleton in third with 72.5 Bethel was right behind the Knights in fourth with 71, while Gustavus placed fifth with 59.5 points. St. Olaf logged 58 points for sixth-place, one point ahead of Concordia. Saint Benedict finished eighth with 51.5 points, followed by St. Catherine in ninth with 36 points. Macalester was next in the standings with 32 points, followed by Saint Mary's with 19, and Augsburg with 13.

For the second night in a row, Macalester senior Phoebe Aguiar blazed her way to a MIAC record, this time setting a new best time in the 600-meter run at 1:31.68. That time breaks Megan Daymont's 16-year-old meet and MIAC mark of 1:33.98, set in 2003. Aguiar also set the all-time MIAC record in the 800 meters last weekend and broke the meet record in the event last night. Bethel's 4x400-meter relay team of Hannah SankeyDelia LabattCorin McKinstrey, and AddieKay Johnson had a record-breaking night as well, clocking in at 3:56.50 to beat St. Thomas' 2009 mark by 00:00.35. The Tommies' Grace Bordson just missed the MIAC meet mark of 1.72 meters in the high jump, putting forth a 1.70-meter effort in finals.

The top three individuals in each event and the first-place relay team automatically earn All-Conference honors, and the 4th-through 6th-place finishers in each open event and 2nd-through-6th place relay teams will be named All-Conference Honorable Mention. Saturday's All-Conference performers are listed below, with the Honorable Mention (4-6 individual, 2-6 relay) available in the results.
