Lutsen, Minn. / Lutsen
St. Catherine's Ailee Larson (Lutsen, Minn.) has had a tremendous cross country season, which continued with another great performance over the weekend. The Wildcat junior runner earned a top-five finish at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational in Eau Claire, Wis., to secure her third-straight top-10 finish thus far in 2013. For her performance, Larson was named the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete-of-the-Week for the second time this season.
Larson came in fifth at the Blugold Invite with a time of 22:14.81 among the 172 runners in the team race, and she was sixth out of 424 runners when unattached competitors are added. Larson finished fourth among Division III runners and second among MIAC runners in the race. Her time was just two seconds off her season and career best, set earlier this season. Larson now has three-straight top-10 finishes, and is consistently running 1:30 faster than a year ago at this time.
Up next for Larson and her teammates will be a chance to compete on their home course, as St. Catherine will host the St. Kate's Invite Saturday in St. Paul. The race is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. The Wildcats have just two meets left on the fall schedule before the 2013 MIAC Cross Country Championships, which will be held Nov. 2 at Como Park Golf Course in St. Paul.
